I decided to change my nature table over from Christmas to a snowman theme for January. A friend of ours gave us a very pretty fir center piece for Christmas. It is still very green. Although you can't see them in the pictures there are also a few pine cones in the wooden box. The candles have little snow men on them. Aiden has been hiding the candles on me the past few days. They turn up in very funny places.
The poem displayed is from "A Child's Calendar"- Poems by John Updike
January
The Days are short,
The sun a spark
Hung thin between
The dark and dark.
Fat snowy footsteps
Track the floor,
And parkas pile up
Near the door.
The river is
A frozen place
Held still beneath
The trees' black lace.
The sky is low.
The wind is gray.
The radiator
Purrs all day.
